Skateboard Birthday Party

It’s birthday season in our house. We just celebrated our son’s fifth birthday. He requested a skateboard theme, so mom did what I do!

First, I searched on Pinterest but found very little inspiration. I’m hoping this blog will help with the next person looking.

Then I moved to Vans as the inspiration. Lots of checkered elements to this party. Here is the mood board I created.

Once I’ve got the inspiration down, I decide what fits into our budget. I’ve learned it takes very little to create beautiful memories for my children.

Here were the main things I focused on:

Cake

I made this checkered, chocolate, strawberry filled cake. Then added the skateboard toys on top.

Food

My brother grilled, and I think that’s always a budget friendly option.

Activities

We gifted my son everything a beginner skater might need. How stinking adorable?! I don’t know when this new skateboard love developed, but I am so excited to see his joy in learning.

We took him on his board up our street, and my siblings biked and skated as well.

This was the first time, so much of my family was able to celebrate with us, so it is very special to me. Along with the skating, we had a water balloon fight. I highly recommend the water balloons that hook and fill on the water hose. It was so easy and fast!

We also had bubbles. It’s a birthday must for us.

Balloons

We blew up and attached a simple balloon arch. Micah asked for blue and yellow. I also ordered some checkered balloons to add but ended up ditching them.

Outfit

We rarely get family pictures, and it’s a blessing my husband was home to celebrate, so I wanted to coordinate.

Matching vans that we’ll wear all summer and a skateboard shirt to feel so fresh on his day!

Presents

I always love doing a special D.I.Y. craft and painted a blue checkered design on this brown wrap for Micah’s gifts. I saved a piece to put in his scrapbook.

I love the way it turned out, and I’m so proud of our little sk8er boy.

We had this artwork done of Micah as a gift by Artist J'Von, Catman.png. I hope through the years he knows we will love and support his dreams and hobbies. He is a major part of my dream, and I am thankful to be his momma. He has a calm spirit. His love is gentle, and playful. He has the best chuckle. I wish you so many more birthdays!

XO,

Momma
